기존 손톱깎이의 고질적인 문제인 손톱 튐과 처리의 번거로움을 측면 보호벽과 내부 보관함 구조로 해결했습니다. 획일화된 기존 디자인에서 벗어나, 기능적 필요가 곧 조형미가 되는 새로운 디자인 언어를 구축했습니다. We resolved the chronic problems of nail clipper scatter and cleanup hassle with side protective walls and an internal collection compartment. Breaking free from the uniform conventional design, we built a new design language where functional need becomes aesthetic form.

기존 손톱깎이의 상하 레버 사이에서 발생하는 유휴 공간(Dead Space)을 확인했습니다. 이 비어 있는 영역을 기능적 활용이 가능한 공간으로 재정의하여, 제품의 구조적 효율성을 높이는 디자인의 핵심 근거로 활용했습니다. We identified the Dead Space occurring between the upper and lower levers of the existing nail clipper. By redefining this empty area as a functionally usable space, we established it as the core rationale for improving the product's structural efficiency.

다양한 그립 형태 스케치 탐색 Exploring diverse grip form sketches
시각적 강렬함과 익숙함 사이의 균형을 바탕으로 브랜드 아이덴티티를 구축했습니다. 흰색 무광 텍스처와 제품의 조형적 특징을 결합하고, 잘려 나간 손톱의 곡선에서 착안한 'Crescent(초승달)'를 이름과 로고로 정의하여 프로젝트의 일관된 시각 언어를 완성했습니다. Brand identity was built on a balance between visual intensity and familiarity. Combining a matte white texture with the product's formal characteristics, we defined 'Crescent' — inspired by the curve of a cut nail — as the name and logo, completing the project's consistent visual language.
기존 손톱깎이의 표준 수치를 바탕으로 다양한 규격의 실물 모형(Mock-up)을 제작하여 그립감을 테스트했습니다. 휴대성과 사용 편의성을 동시에 만족하는 지름 14mm, 길이 80mm를 최종 치수로 확정하여 실제 설계의 근거로 활용했습니다. We created physical mockups in various sizes based on standard nail clipper dimensions to test grip feel. 14mm diameter and 80mm length — satisfying both portability and usability — were confirmed as the final dimensions and used as the basis for actual design.
